The Butler Did It is the online portfolio of design and art director Tom Butler. Coming from a traditional print based design education at the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication), over the last ten years my working career has moved through a variety of media from print, motion to interactive design. Throughout this time the core aspects of my design sensibilities; typography, layout, balance and an eye for detail have been refined and developed.

During the last four years at de-constuct I have worked with clients such as adidas, the Barbican, Nokia, Panasonic and Established & Sons, winning several awards including a Red Dot for the adidas Stella McCartney site and a Webby for the Barbican 'Can I Have a Word?' site. In 2006 I was promoted to the role of Creative Director, my main client responsibility was the development of the global adidas football account, during which time I oversaw several big campaigns as well as creatively developing original online content.

Whatever the medium the aim of the creative process remains constant; to solve the relevant design problem with an appropriate, effective and visually elegant solution. This is something I strive to achieve in my work with a combination of craft, technical ability, enthusiasm and team work.
